Yaron’s parrot

Yaron has always dreamt of raising a parrot. He saw on some TV shows how the parrot could learn to imitate its owner and thought it would be very nice and funny to raise one of his own.

His parents didn’t want to raise a parrot. They were afraid of the noise and the dirt it would create. However, after Yaron promised to take care of the parrot, they agreed to get him one and so they did.

Yaron was very happy with his new parrot. He fed it, tried to teach it a few words and even named it “Joy” for the joy it brought him. The parrot learned to say, “thank you” and “please”. It even learned to say Yaron’s name and Yaron was very pleased.

But after a while Yaron felt that his parrot was a little sad. He saw that the parrot was looking out the window, staring at the birds which flew freely. He thought that his parrot wanted to be as free as they were.

That is why Yaron got the most difficult decision of his life: he had to set his parrot free. And that was exactly what he did! Yaron opened the window, then opened the cage and freed the parrot. Even though he was sad about it, he knew he did the right thing for the parrot he loved so much!
