רמה מתקדמת – מבחן מספר 3 – Shaming

Shaming

1

Shaming is a phenomenon in which someone or some people publish a negative behavior of someone else to shame him, harm his name and even harm his livelihood. It is usually done online.

2

Unfortunately, shaming is common today – it is done mainly via social networks when a person posts a post in one or more of the social networks to shame another. Sometimes the post may include many identifying personal details, such as the name of the person, his picture, the address of his business and much more. Such posts can become viral and cause real damage to the person being shamed.

3

Shaming is problematic since it is one-sided and not all the details can be verified. However, it might be positive if a person feels hopeless when dealing with official institutions or when it helps stopping negative behaviors such as abusing.

4

A person who is being shamed will generally feel humiliated and frustrated. He may even feel helpless. Today there are many companies which advise what to do in such situations to reduce the damage as much as possible. It is also recommended for a person who is being shamed to share his worries with people he trusts and to stay positive as much as possible.
